南極仙翁曰： Immortal Longevity said: 【 修道改變命運 Cultivation changes destiny 】 老朽問你們：只有道中人才可以改變命運嗎？（不是）那以往道場經常成全你來求道就可以改變命運，如果他回你一句：我在別的宗教好好修，也一樣可以改變命運。那時你們該怎麼回答呢？ I ask you: Can only those within the Tao change their destiny? (No.) In the past, Tao gatherings often encouraged you to seek the Tao in order to change your destiny. If someone replied, "I am cultivating sincerely in other religions, and I can also change my destiny," how would you respond back then? 南極仙翁曰： Immortal Longevity said: 其實改變命運有很多種形式，有時改變你這時的命運，只是將你這一時要發生的事，挪到下一刻或下一世再發生而已，用你未來的福份替代你現時的禍患。 Actually, changing destiny takes many forms. Sometimes, changing your destiny at a particular moment merely delays the events that were supposed to happen to a later time or even a future lifetime. It replaces the calamity you face now with blessings from your future. 尤其是你特別去祭祀某一類邪神的話，他有辦法、有這種能力幫你互相做個扭轉，但這是必要條件交換的。 If you specifically worship a certain type of evil deity, they have the ability to help you make such a shift, but this requires an exchange of necessary conditions. 而一般宗教而言，他誠心修，一樣也可以改變命運，但改變的方式有很多種，其中他今日能順遂的渡過了這一個難關、這一世的問題，但他並沒有辦法完全根絕於所有的業報。 As for ordinary religions, if someone cultivates sincerely, they can also change their destiny. However, the way it changes varies. For example, they may smoothly overcome a difficulty or problem in this lifetime, but they cannot completely eliminate all karmic retribution. 而修道人的話，如果他真的能夠超越這一些命運拘束、侷限，甚至在他這一世，就會直接還清他下幾世所要遭受的報應。不過這在社會上也是有一個例子發生，這是在很早以前的一個故事： For Tao practitioners, if they can truly transcend the constraints and limitations of destiny, they may even repay in this lifetime the retribution that would have spanned several future lifetimes. There is an example of this in society, a story from long ago: 曾經在鄉里之中，有一個惡人，經常是天不怕、地不怕，胡作非為。偶然有一天他經過一條河，河中剛好有一位婦人抱著稚齡的孩童涉水而過，不小心腳底一滑，便漂流至河中央，大聲呼救；那時水流湍急，附近的船家都不敢搭船去救，只有他一個人自告奮勇說：「人命關天之事，你們不敢做，我來做。」結果他自己便划船奮勇的在急流、亂流當中，救起那一位婦人和小孩的性命。 In a village, there was once a wicked person who feared nothing—neither heaven nor earth—and did all sorts of evil. One day, he happened to pass by a river. At that moment, a woman carrying a young child was wading across the river when she accidentally slipped and was swept into the middle of the river, crying loudly for help. The current was swift and turbulent, and nearby boatmen dared not risk rescuing her. Only this man volunteered, saying, "This is a matter of life and death. If you won't do it, I will." He then rowed a boat courageously through the turbulent currents and saved the woman and child. 經過了幾天，他不久就隨時一命嗚呼而告終，在臨終以前他說了一件事：「昨晚我做了一個夢，夢見天神告訴我：『依你這一世胡作非為的現況，你下一世本該投胎判為豬身，歷世都要如此；但你在一日當中救了兩條性命，特將你的豬身、豬胎之命運改換，下次判你轉為普通人。為怕世人不了解行善而有惡報的顯現，所以在你臨終前，你務必要把這一段事實始末講給大家聽。』 而到最後天神又交代他：『這一世你既然如此了，下一世再得人身之時要好好做。』」 A few days later, he suddenly passed away. Before his death, he recounted something: Last night, I had a dream. A heavenly being told me: "Based on your evil deeds in this lifetime, you were destined to be reborn as a pig in your next life, lifetime after lifetime. But because you saved two lives in one day, I have changed your fate. Instead of being reborn as a pig, you will be reborn as an ordinary person." "To ensure people understand why good deeds can lead to an untimely death, you must share the full story before you pass away." Finally, the heavenly being added, "Since this is your fate now, when you are reborn as a human in your next life, you must strive to do good." 你們想想：一個普通人發一善念救了兩條性命，就可以扭轉他往後要被判為豬胎的命運，何況道中人有真修道的力量，那豈可限量呢？ Think about it: An ordinary person, through a single act of kindness in saving two lives, was able to change their fate of being reborn as a pig. How much more profound, then, is the power of a Tao practitioner who genuinely cultivates the Tao? 不過最大的分別就是你用心修道，為的是讓你的善根更加的深入，讓你的自性更加的光明；如果這一個被判為豬胎的人，他下一世依舊沒有機緣，受大善知識之教化的話，他很有可能會再次犯錯。 The key difference lies in intention. When you cultivate the Tao with sincerity, you deepen your virtuous roots and let your intrinsic nature shine brighter. If the person who was saved from being reborn as a pig had not encountered the guidance of great wisdom in their next life, they might very well make mistakes again. 你們知道為什麼嗎？因為他前世所種胡作非為的『基因種子』，並沒有改變，只是一時的善念改變他的命運而已；所以這一世你在修道，你要結善緣、修善根，對你的下一世是很重要的。 Do you know why? Because the seeds of their past evil deeds—the habits and tendencies—had not changed. Their momentary good deed merely altered their fate. Thus, in this lifetime, as you cultivate the Tao, it is crucial to form good connections and cultivate virtuous roots. This will greatly influence your next life. 南極仙翁： Immortal Longevity: 經常你們都以為：我這一次好好修就可以直達理天；但你們不要忘記，在你的愿力沒了，在道尚未真的普傳世界的時候，你不可能只有這一世而已；所以如果你想下一世不要再繼續迷昧的話，你務必要福慧雙修。 You often think, "If I cultivate diligently this lifetime, I can directly reach the Heavenly Kingdom." But do not forget, as long as your vows remain unfulfilled and the Tao has not yet spread universally, it is impossible for this to be your only lifetime. Therefore, if you wish not to remain lost in your next life, you must cultivate both blessings and wisdom. 『什麼叫福呢？』福不是真的叫你去多做一些善事，然後讓下一次過的舒坦一點，不是這個意思；是你有那一個福氣投身到明理的家庭繼續修道，這叫做福。 What is meant by blessings? Blessings do not simply mean doing more good deeds to ensure a more comfortable next life. Rather, it means having the fortune to be born into a family that understands the Tao, allowing you to continue your cultivation. This is blessings. 『什麼叫做慧呢？』慧就是你在心底種下了一個慧根、善根、積極向道之心不變，縱使你下一次因種種累世因緣而迷昧，到時自然也會有與你有緣有因緣的人，或者仙佛的從中點撥讓你點醒。 What is wisdom? Wisdom means planting the roots of wisdom and virtue in your heart—a steadfast resolve to pursue the Tao. Even if you become lost in your next life due to accumulated karmic causes, there will naturally be people with whom you have karmic connections, or even celestial beings, who will guide and awaken you. 這樣子你們明白嗎？所以，你們現在所修的並不是為了下一世的安穩，為的是讓下一次能夠繼續的為道來犧牲奉獻 。 Do you understand now? What you cultivate now is not for the comfort of your next life. It is to ensure that in your next life, you can continue to dedicate and sacrifice for the Tao.
